The 2020 DNC Presidential “Debates”

For those of you who have been carefully watching the DNC-sponsored “debates” between various “presidential candidates,” trying to figure out which of them has the most “innovative” “solutions” to America’s “problems,” let me sum them all up for you with a picture —

The DNC and its affiliates, as they’ve been since 1970. [Image H/T Stephen Carville]

As far as any of these . . . individuals . . . is concerned, your life, liberty, money, property, and pursuit(s) of happiness don’t belong to you at all.

NONE of these . . . persons . . . displays any evidence of caring about your individual rights, privileges or immunities in the slightest.

Rather, in their minds, your life, liberty, money, property, and pursuit(s) of happiness are theirs, to take away, to give to others, to use as they see fit, or to destroy, at their arbitrary and capricious whim.

In their minds, your individual rights, privileges or immunities aren’t yours at all in any way, but theirs, to be granted to you or taken away from you at their discretion.

In the end, tuning in to these cretins and idiots is a total waste of time, electricity, and bandwidth, in my opinion.

Happy Independence Day — From a 21st Century Tory

My inbox is always bursting with spam —

Subject: Happy Independence Day!

What’s amusing about this is that Michelle Lujan Grisham is the 21st century New Mexico equivalent of an 18th century British Tory.

A little histoy lesson here — the Tories were the British political party who were opposed to the American Revolution of 1776. They were whom the Declaration of Independence was a series of complaints against when it was signed at Independence Hall (then the Pennsylvania State House).

In short, they were the Big Government party of the United Kingdom of the 1760s and 1770s.

Doesn’t Big Government neatly summarize the political career of Michelle Lujan Grisham? When has she EVER supported making government smaller, less intrusive, less expensive? Not much that we here in New Mexico have seen.

Grisham has little to no respect for the individual right to own and carry weapons, she’s always in favor of expanding the welfare state, and she signs off on Democrat-sponsored corporate welfare while complaining about corporations being under-regulated. If you’re a farmer or rancher, she doesn’t seem to care if your land is seized out from under you by the BLM, Forest Service, Fish & Wildlife, EPA, or whoever else, just so long as it fits the current Democrat narrative.

What’s also amusing is that today’s British Tories (the Conservative Party, by their own name) are the “across-the-pond” equivalent of America’s Republicans — they advertise themselves as moderate libertarians during the campaign season, then govern as moderate Democrats (Labour Party for the UK Conservatives).

If you want the real deal, then go with actual, brand-name Libertarians here in the States. For the UK, I would suggest either the Libertarian Party UK [LPUK] or UK Independence Party [UKIP]

Gay Democrats, Gun-Owning Republicans

Outright USA asked the question:

What did you think of the LP statement that gay Democrats are like abused spouses who return to their attackers?

The results at this time –

Exactly right.
75     41.7%

I’ll believe the LP when they remove the pro-DADT and pro-DOMA members from their National Committee.
50     27.8%

I wish they hadn’t said that the LP ‘neither supports nor opposes gay relationships.’ It undermined the message.
30     16.7%

The analogy was generous to the DNC and an insult to spousal abusers.
25     13.9%

I wonder if the question were changed to the following:

What did you think of the LP statement that gun-owning Republicans are like abused spouses who return to their attackers?

What would the results be?

If You’re Happy and You Know It . . .

Current mood: creative, ecstatic

I was looking through the blog of former Albuquerque Mayor Jim Baca, and found this gem

I just completed my yearly dance with Turbo Tax.  I am getting money back this year because of credits for installing three kilowatts of Solar Voltaic Panels on my roof.  Even after that we would not have owed any additional taxes to the Feds or the State other than what was withheld.  This is wrong.

We did not pay enough income taxes.  Yes, I really feel that way.  You could put our annual income last year in the upper middle class and we should  have paid more in taxes but the congress and state legislature have no ‘huevos’ to do the right thing and rescind bush’s and the state’s income tax breaks.

If anything, it reminds me of a comment by a NM Green Party member back in the 1990’s — “I was audited last year, and not only were the auditors pleasant and professional, but they were right.”

Of course, no one in Libertarian ranks (or even amongst the libertarian-leaning Republicans) is stopping Baca or anyone else from sending MORE cash into the tax-collecting agencies. Never mind that if Mr. Baca and his cohorts spent as much time directly helping via private charity those they profess to care so much about, America wouldn’t have nearly as many people having economy-related troubles.

That, and he’s still got problems with us the Great Unwashed carrying self-defense tools — see here:

The legislature actually passed on to the Governor the bill allowing concealed weapons in liquor establishments that serve food.  As a former State Liquor Director in the 1980s I have to say this is one of the stupider things I have ever seen our lawmakers pull off.  Of course I hope the current head of the liquor department will urge the Governor not to sign this act.  Oh, the legislature still does not allow concealed weapons in the State Capitol Building where they work.  And the Governor has armed body guards in case someone comes into his office packing heat under their jacket.

And I thought that I had set him straight back then in 2001. Not that it mattered much for his political career — he still lost his bid for re-election for Mayor to Slick Marty Chavez.
